But all good things come to an end, and eventually, nosotros decided to retire the Ginger Beer Bug.

Directions
Starting a New Bug - 2 Weeks

Day ane. Place 3 raisins in a clean glass jar and add together ii teaspoons of sugar and two cups (600 mls / 21 fl oz.) of cold water. Go along a cloth chapeau on the jar secured with a rubber band and sit down it on the demote.

Day 5. Add ii teaspoons of carbohydrate. Give information technology a stir.

Day 6. Add together 2 teaspoons of sugar and two teaspoons of footing ginger. Give it a stir.

Twenty-four hours seven. Add 2 teaspoons of sugar. Give it a stir.

24-hour interval viii. Drain off the liquid from the jar and keep the sediment. Throw away the liquid - information technology is not agile enough to mash with yet.

Day 9 - Twenty-four hours xiv. Repeat Day 2 - 7

Day fifteen. Yous now have an active bug and you can bottle your kickoff batch. Drain of the liquid and don't throw it away this fourth dimension. See below for instructions on how to bottle it.
Brewing from an Existing Problems - 1 Week

Bottling your Ginger Beer

Make full each bottle, leaving 3 - 5 cm (1-two") gap at the pinnacle. Don't worry if yous've got a scrap more room in the terminal bottle, it volition still work. Screw the lids on and put in a warm place for a week.

Give the bottles a squeeze after a week. If they're hard it means your ginger beer is fermenting. Put them in the fridge to end any more force per unit area building up and drink them.
Recipe Notation
